Weight Room Audio System

Weight Room Audio System – Haddon Heights High School

System Requirements

Haddon Heights High School needed a permanently installed audio system in the weight room that could be used by staff and students.  They were previously using a boombox which did not work well, so the new system had to be easy to use and provide even audio coverage.

System Design

We took measurements of the weight room and discussed possible loudspeaker mounting points with the athletic director.  From this, we came up with a simple design of four loudspeakers mounted along the wall.

Equipment list:

  • Four Mackie passive loudspeakers
  • One Crown amplifier
  • Simple Rolls mixer with input for phone or laptop.

Result

The new weight room audio system provides clear sound with good bass and is simple to use.

Gateway High School Gymnasium Sound System

Gateway High School Gymnasium Sound System

System Requirements

The Gateway High School Gymnasium Sound System had large horns which were designed for stadium use, causing harsh and uneven sound.  The school needed a new system that provides coverage for the floor and bleachers, as well as simple control.

System Design

Our design team created a distributed layout to cover the floor/court as well as the bleachers.  Most gymnasium sound systems cover the bleachers only, making it hard to hear on the floor.

Equipment list:

12 Community R.35 loudspeakers.

1 Community Dual 15″ Subwoofer

QSC Amplifiers

Shure BLX-R wireless microphones

Egg Harbor Township Football Field Sound System

System Requirements

The football field sound system for Egg Harbor Township needed to be cost-effective, easy to use, and provide coverage for the stands and field.  Two DJ loudspeakers were lifted out the window and placed on brackets when audio was needed.

System Design

Our design team used a satellite image with software to design the optimal football field sound system.  This provided a guide for the installation ensuring optimal coverage for the stands and field.  Though the press box is a secure building, the town wanted to be able to remove the equipment during the offseason so a portable case and system disconnect was required.

Featured Equipment:

Result

The new football field sound system has enhanced the experience for athletes and spectators with clear music and announcements.  The loudspeakers are permanently installed, and never need to be removed.  The portable rack is easy to set up and use.

Baseball field speakers

Widener University Baseball Field Sound System

System Requirements

The Widener University Baseball Stadium did not have a permanent sound system installed, and would have to set up a powered loudspeaker in the window.  This became a hassle and didn’t provide adequate coverage.  The stadium is located close to a major highway which made it difficult to hear the announcer.  The new baseball field speakers had to cover three sections of bleachers and the field, with the ability to handle both speech and music.

System Design

We selected Community’s R-series loudspeakers for the system.  The Community R-series are perfect baseball field speakers and provide great sound while being designed to survive the elements.  Smaller R-series speakers were used to cover the three sections of bleachers.  We then installed an R.5-MAX on a pole to provide coverage for the field.

Featured Equipment:

    • Three Community R.35-3896 loudspeakers for the stands
    • One Community R.5MAX for the field
    • Crown XTI-4002 amplifiers
    • Shure rack-mount mixer

Result

The new sound system covers all three sections of the stands evenly as well as onto the field.  Both spectators and athletes experience high-quality sound and the operation of the system is simple for the staff.

Rosa Middle School Gymnasium Sound System

System Requirements

Rosa Middle School, located in Cherry Hill, NJ needed a new sound system in their gymnasium.  The space hosts daily gym classes, pep rallies, and school events.  A portable system was brought in each time, which was time-consuming to set up and left cables all over the floor.

The new sound system had to provide high-level, even coverage and the main components had to be simple to operate.

System Design

We designed a press box based system which kept costs reasonable while still providing coverage for the entire stadium.  We repurposed an existing loudspeaker as well as one of the wireless microphones.

Featured Equipment:

    • QSC AD-S12 Loudspeakers
    • QSC CXD Amplifier
    • Shure BLX-R Wireless Microphones
    • Alesis Rack-Mount Mixer
